What is AgForward
AgForward, an initiative of
AgForce Queensland, was initially
established with funding from the Queensland Government to help
primary producers and landholders interpret the
Vegetation
Management Act 1999.
Since commencing in May 2005, AgForward has successfully
assisted many producers and landholders with vegetation
management and grown to meet the needs of producers in the areas
of GPS and Computer Mapping technologies, through structured,
nationally accredited workshops.
AgForests, a joint initiative between
AgForce Queensland and
Timber Queensland, was added to AgForward’s portfolio in 2007.
During 2008,
AgForests has successful delivered a ‘pilot’
market based instrument (MBI) BMP incentives project.
Using a tender system plus biodiversity benefit scoring metric,
for a
Burnett Mary Regional Group sponsored project,
AgForests
has assisted 13 producers to improve biodiversity values on
850ha.
AgForward’s training performance was recognised when it took out
the prestigious “Education Project” Award at the 2007 Red Meat
Innovation Awards.
AgForward has exceptional capacity in GIS and mapping
technologies and currently holds agreements with a number of
regional natural resource management groups for the sharing of
SPOT5 satellite imagery for supply to workshop participants.
